Bannon & Bernie vs. Trump on AI? | Daily Dose

1–2 perc

AI is producing some unexpected political alliances. President Trump opposes slowing development, emphasizing competition with China. Meanwhile, Steve Bannon and Bernie Sanders are joining forces to push for AI restrictions, and Barack Obama is urging Democrats to prioritize safeguards.

Bannon also opposes federal efforts to prevent states from adopting their own AI rules. Their positions overlap, although they aren’t all advocating the same regulatory approach.

Companies are drawing boundaries too. According to Reuters, citing The Information, Booz Allen Hamilton is restricting Anthropic’s commercial AI for proprietary cybersecurity work. Palantir wants irrevocable zero-data-retention guarantees, while Nvidia limits Anthropic’s models to less-sensitive tasks.

Today’s Daily Dose comes from Kazimierz in Kraków, beside the historic tram depot on Świętego Wawrzyńca. Its oldest buildings date to 1882 and included stables for the horses that pulled the trams. Electric trams arrived in 1901.

Those horse trams had first and second class and travelled through the Main Square. On the uphill stretch from Stradom toward St Giles’ Church, an extra horse helped pull the load—literal additional horsepower.
