AI models aren’t just getting smarter. The price of intelligence is collapsing.

Anthropic just released Claude Opus 5.5, priced at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. Anthropic says it performs at roughly the level of its higher-end Claude Fable 5.1 on most work while costing 40% less to run than Opus 5. 

And Anthropic isn’t alone. OpenAI also released lower-cost GPT-6 Sol and Luna models as competition between the frontier labs increasingly becomes a price war, not merely a benchmark race. 

That could be the bigger technological story. The Industrial Revolution wasn’t just about inventing power—it was about making power cheap enough to put everywhere.

AI may be entering that phase now.

King Casimir III founded Kazimierz as a separate city in 1335, south of medieval Cracow. Its defensive walls were constructed during the 14th century, giving the new city its own fortified perimeter.
