AI is moving from the tech world into geopolitics—and AI agents are starting to collide with the companies whose websites they use.

Chinese AI company DeepSeek was expected to brief the United Nations Security Council as it met to discuss the growing implications of artificial intelligence for international security. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and representatives from Anthropic were also expected to participate.

At the same time, Amazon blocked Meta’s Muse AI shopping agent from shopping on Amazon.com. Amazon says the agent was accessing its store without authorization and should identify itself and respect whether a retailer wants to participate.

That fight points toward a much bigger question for the agentic internet: If I authorize my AI agent to act for me, does every website it visits also get to decide whether my agent is allowed in?

Two very different stories—but both show AI moving beyond chatbots and into institutions, commerce and the real world.
