Google just announced a roughly $15 billion AI infrastructure investment in Finland, alongside a 22-year agreement for up to half the output of a nuclear power plant.

It’s another sign that the AI race is becoming an infrastructure and energy race. Models matter, but so do chips, data centers, cooling, electrical grids, and enormous amounts of reliable power.

I recorded today’s update from Dietla Street in Cracow, Poland, which has an interesting history of its own. A branch of the Vistula River once ran along what is now Dietla. By the 19th century, the old river channel had become a public health problem. It was eventually filled in and transformed into the broad boulevard and green space that exists today.
